Seeing the rampant consumerism of North America juxtaposed with the struggle for survival in so many parts of the world, can I make a suggestion for what to get this Christmas? Find a reputable charity, and get involved. Be it a local one, or one that works in far away countries. You can sponsor a child, you can buy goats for a family, you can help buy a well in a village…whatever…just, make sure that rather than blowing cash on useless things that you use your wealth in a productive, meaningful way.
I’m not affiliated with any charities, this is not advertising on their behalf…it’s just what I’ve been feeling for the last couple of weeks. Don’t waste your resources.

Great idea. I know some people even joke about this, but I think having someone make a donation to a charity in my name is a nice Christmas present.

I’ve thought about this for awhile…and I think this is something I’d like to ask my parents to “get” me for Christmas or my birthday next year. I have so much stuff…and there are so many people out there who have nothing at all. I’ve gotten to the point where I pretty much stop asking my parents to buy me presents…because there’s nothing I need. So I’ll just tell them to take that money and do this instead…it’ll get put to much better use that way.
Merry Christmas to the second-best band in the world…
