Yes, there was a flashing sign that read, "GREEN.....DAY......GREEN....DAY...." and then sped up like at a football game when the crowd chants "D-Fence! D-Fence!..." And yeah, I thought that was kind of a lame way to encourage an encore. Also, there were some really predictable moments. I mean, you knew they were gonna start the encore with "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." I predicted that before the show even started. I also called the first song to be "American Idiot," and the last song to be "Time of your Life." Which happened...but, still...it was fun.

....granted, not as much fun as a trip through the US border...but, this isn't the time or place for that rant...

I heard that they encouraged their own encore with a neon sign flashing the band name?

Sounds really classy - but I guess their show is more geared mroe to 12 year olds these days.

Audioslave on Thursday however did not need a neon sign for their encore.

The other CK

I couldn't help but comment about @$$hole beautifully sung by Green Day with American Idiot. Somebody should of pushed the elbow-guy on stage during that same song...would of been twice the fun!

As far as the elbow-guy goes, I tossed a few elbows his way. It's not so different than boxing-out when you are rebounding in basketball. I may not be able to shoot, but I can clear almost anyone outta the key. I learned to throw my elbows around from Bill Laimbeer. :-)

I have to say I'm not sorry I missed that experience. I sympathize about the elbow guy. One time I was in a really tight crowd waiting for a band to come on and this guy had his elbow up and was digging it into my collar bone. I tried to push it off, but he wouldn't move it, so I bit him. Then he moved it. What a mofo. Sucks to be 5'3
