I heard the top four of the top 99 albums on CFOX today. Here they are:
4. Green Day - Dookie
3. U2 - The Joshua Tree
2. Green Day - American Idiot
1. Nirvana - Nevermind
I agree with these choices but, American Idiot?! How did that get to number two? How did it beat Dookie?! Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great album, but there is no way it should have made it to number two when there are so many other great new rock albums way better and more influential, like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Tool, Coldplay, Alice in Chains, and even, yes that’s right, Nickleback .
I know the numbers are based on the listeners (or so they say) so I am going to assume that they just voted on it because they wanted to vote and didn’t have a real opinion and since AI is the most popular album out right now it was fresh in their minds.
The Nirvana choice was obvious.

Yeah, I’m thinking that the most glaring omission is that “Blend” didn’t make the list!
Well, at least they voted for Joshua Tree, so they’re not total idiots. But I always get annoyed when something REALLY new gets on a top 100 of all-time anything. I just don’t feel something really new has the chops to bear that sort of title.
^ agreed, there’s no real way of knowing if it has any staying power … if it’ll actually hold up over time or just become really cheesy and overrated.
